Important Update from the Exmouth Town Supporters Club Committee
It is with a great deal of sadness I can report that a number of the ETSC committee members have come to the difficult decision to stand down from their role on the ETSC committee. As a result of the resignations, the committee is now inquorate and, therefore, cannot continue to operate in its current format by the terms of its constitution. I hasten to add that the committee members have not fallen out and remain the best of friends, and rightly proud of their achievements on behalf of the football club, ETSC members and supporters.
The main reasons for coming to this decision are given below:
- The football club is now running its own membership scheme for supporters with their own monthly draw and associated benefits. To continue with a separate competing membership scheme is likely to become confusing and may well get in the way of what the football club is trying to achieve going forwards.
- The football club will now be running its own club shop on matchdays and have asked that ETSC stand down their pop-up shop. As the pop-up shop represents a significant percentage of the income generation of the supporters club, we feel that we can no longer be effective in running the same level of projects.
- With the completion of the patio and roof project, the football club can run inside and outside music events without the requirement for joint funding from ETSC. The music functions remain open to all.
Given the above, we believe that ETSC can only continue to operate if there are members who are willing and able to step up to the committee. As a result, we have scheduled an ETSC (members only) Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Thursday, 5th September 2024 at 18:30 in the clubhouse at Exmouth Town FC. We hope that many of our members will be able to attend.
The meeting will consider the election of new officers to the committee and how the current operations can be handed over cleanly. If we are unable to fill the committee roles, then the only option will be to dissolve the Exmouth Town Supporters Club. Clearly, we have a duty to our members to plan for this eventuality. At the EGM, the committee will unveil plans for the disposal of ETSC assets, and for compensating members for subscriptions made in the current ETSC season (from 1st March 2024).
The committee continue to support the football club and wish the team every success for the coming season.
