The Mufftown Casuals

The Mufftown Casuals represent the group of supporters following the fortunes of Exmouth Town FC. As well as supporting the club on matchdays, the MTC have been helping the club in various other ways, including work parties in and around the club grounds, and fundraising for both the club and local charities.

How it all Began

The date: Saturday, 12th November 2016

The venue: On a train going to watch Exmouth Town FC v Gillingham in the FA Vase.
(That’s the one in Dorset, not the one in Kent.)

During the journey, our conversation moved onto how we could gel the supporters of Exmouth Town FC. The six of us on board, Chris Rickard, Tubby Hawthorne, Ben Taylor, James and Dave Bennett and myself, started it all off with a chat group to which I gave the name the “Mufftown Casuals”.

It stuck!

From those early beginnings, I progressed the group by creating a Facebook group site and invited various fans from ETFC to join. It snowballed very quickly and the merry band went on our fantastic journey in the cup runs of that season.  Our success led to an appeal for support to commision a flag for the group. It was a roaring success and, thus, “The Famous Mufftown Casuals” flag was produced, and has been seen at every game since.

Since that time, I have initiated various projects, producing two new pin badges for the club, with one of these raising ÂŁ234 for The Poppy Appeal. Following that, we have had polo shirts designed and sold them at cost. We all got together again to crowd fund the second flag.

Every year since the MTC was formed, we have had a Christmas meal together and they just get bigger and better. The last one (2019) being held at The Point Bar & Grill in Exmouth. We are now progressing to even bigger events this year. All the planning is paying dividends as the fanbase increases.

To this end, with the formation of the official Exmouth Town Supporters Club, we are now in a position to make big things happen within Exmouth Town FC, all for the fanbase to enjoy an enhanced footballing and social experience.
